The Control Unit Emulator, also known as the DOT Emulator, is a virtual
control panel designed to help users simulate various scales, inputs, and outputs. It will be used to check
automation for DOT inspections, which are required for certain state projects at batch
plants.
Hardware
Cables
- Two Serial-to-USB cables (Libra Part# LP5922).
- A Female to female Null Modem cable (Libra Part# LP72031).
Setup Instructions
- Connect the adapters – Attach a Serial-to-USB adapter to each end of
the Null Modem cable.
- Connect to the PC – Plug both USB ends into the
computer.
- Assign COM ports – In the loopback setup:
- One port will act as the receiver—use the same port assigned to the actual
Control Unit and designate it as COM1.
- Identify the emulator port – Open Device Manager to check which COM
port is recognized. That port corresponds to the emulator and sends data to Libra.
